Heat pump installation cost
People search for a single heat pump installation cost. The public files behind this directory do not support one. A ductless single zone, a cold-climate ducted system with new ductwork, and a heat pump water heater are different projects. Electrical panel work may or may not be in the price.
The TECH Clean California contractor file we publish from (ContractorProjectData_2026-10-20) does not include project cost. TECH’s separate anonymized installation datasets do, and those downloads are behind a request form on TECH’s download page. We did not ingest that file, so we do not reprint a cost range from it.
What we can cite is an operating-cost comparison, not an install price. Efficiency Maine’s heat pump page, checked 2026-11-03, says its home heating cost comparison was current as of 11 September 2026 and lists these assumptions: propane at $3.20 a gallon, 93% combustion efficiency, 90% distribution efficiency, electricity at $0.26 per kWh, and a heat pump COP of 3.15 with 100% distribution efficiency. The page says your results may differ. See Efficiency Maine’s heat pump page.
Ask two or three installers for a price that names the equipment, the load calculation, electrical work, and what happens to the old furnace or boiler. Use the vetting checklist and the rebate guides for the program that actually applies to the house.
